Seated Massage
Seated Massage-Chair Massage
Seated massage is a very relaxing way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in my spa, your workplace, event, convention, or even your home. You will receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I use at my spa or bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of seated massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage (although I offer massages where you stay clothed). Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy time schedule and at a fraction of the price.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage
Is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage
Is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Combination Massage
Combination Massage
This is a combination massage which uses a variety of different modalities to achieve the desired therapeutic goal of the client. It is not only a combination of swedish-deep tissue, it is a mix of some of the other modalities such as some stretching, deep tissue, trigger point, neuromuscular, myofascial release, sports, orthopedic, thai, shiatsu and lymphatic drainage.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy
Is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Neuromuscular
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
Is a masage that focuses on the treatment of trigger points. Trigger points refer pain to other areas of the body.
Trigger points are usually painful points located in tight bands of muscle, areas of increased tension, are abnormally regid and have limited range of motion. This massage modality uses the application of sustained, usually static pressure. The pressure and can vary from very light to heavy depending on how bad the trigger point is and how long its been there.
By breaking up the trigger points, neuromuscular massage can reduce chronic pain, increase range of motion, and help to correct some postural distortions.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage
Is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy that is used to treat the impaired or altered functions of body structures (myoskelaton sysytem, nervous and lymphatic sysytem) and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing blood flow in the veins, lymphatic drainage, stretching of muscles and overlay of fascia.
This massage consists of not a more gentle manuel massage therapy (using sustained pressure) on the meduim end (or light) but also streching and traction of the muscles to release the surrounding fascia. This is not a deep tissue massage!
This is form of therapy is amazingly very helpful in relief from chronic pain!
Stretching
Stretching
Active and Isolated Stretching
Contract - Relax (CR)
Post- Isometric Muscle Relaxation ( PMR or PMI)
Recprical Inhibition
Thai Stretching
Shaitsu Stretching
This can be added to any massage service, only thing we need is a little extra time. Stretching at appropriate times benefits the muscles, by circulating blood and oxygen to the targeted muscle.
There are times that stretching is not needed but loosening, strengthening and toning is, Alexis can make that determination with a postural distortion assessment. At that time we can see if your muscles are either hypotonic and over stretched which in that case loosening, strengthening and toning is needed, or if they are hypertonic which means they are shortened and compressed and loosening and stretching is needed. Either way in both cases your muscles can still be very tight.
There are times that stretching is absolutely not recommended because it can create micro tears in the muscle and or make an injury worse. Alexis will make that determination at the time of your consultation.
If your are in need of strengthening and toning Alexis will be glad to refer you to a number of excellant licensed personal trainers.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Medical Massage
Medical Massage
Differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor with a prescription. I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis. This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.
I do not accept insurance but can provide you an invoice you may submit to your insurance company.
Orthopedic Massage
Orthopedic - Myoskeleletal Alignment Massage
Is a type of massage that is focused on musculoskeletal problems, issues and alignment regardless if they accured from an accident, injury, over use, bad habits or other. The goal is to release tight muscles, help to stretch shortened muscles and tendons, as well as to help relieve compression in the joints. The intent is to help relieve the client of specific conditions by trying to normalize the soft tissue of the body. A prescription is not needed for this. There may be an assesment of the client and the problem area, while determining a plan. A wide range of bodywork styles are used for the end result of improving the clients overall condition.

Acupressure
Acupressure
Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.
Cupping
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of relieving local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place.
Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the 'Meridians' of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians.
Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. Cupping is equivalent to a deep tissue massage with out deep and with out the pain. Cupping, the technique, is very useful and very safe.

A barefoot massage technique using deep compression and effleurage strokes that glide over the body. Gravitational force is combined with centrifugal and centripetal movements. This creates a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body. Bars are used above the head for support and balance and lubricant is applied to the body. Deepest most luxurious massage on the planet!!!
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu Massage
Is a Japanese form of massage. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.
